Whether you’ve heard of an air miles credit card before or not, we are here to help you understand a little more about how they work, and which card is the best for you. Our table below compares features of  the best air miles credit cards in the UK.

An air miles credit card is a credit card that rewards you for purchases, by giving you a certain amount of air miles (points) per £ spent.Your points  don’t just have to be spent on flights, they can also be spent on; upgrades, hotels and car hire.

For flights, members will get access to what are called ‘Reward flights’, these are allocated flights that can be purchased using your miles. You can purchase the full flight with air miles, or part air miles part cash.

On top of your points, most credit cards will also reward you with a free flight (companion voucher) each year if you spend a certain amount of money.

A companion voucher allows you to get a second free flight for a flight you book. Essentially it works like buy-one-get-one-free. You will still have to pay taxes and fees on the second flight, so it’s not entirely free but it’s usually a very small price to pay for what you are getting. Some providers will allow you to use the companion voucher on a free flight upgrade, instead of an additional ticket.

When shopping online, stores will also have offers available, to gain additional points for your money, offering as much as 50 air miles per £ spend on their e-store. You can take advantage of these by going through your cards membership dashboard.

There are multiple air miles credit cards available but which one is right for you? Some cards will have eligibility requirements and most have tailored rewards that will suit certain spending habits.
